Congratulations to Matt T and Tarik S for their joint work on their Freerunning photograph. Their fabulous shot was awarded third place in the Sharow Photo Competition schools category.

It was the only entry in the top three to be taken by secondary school pupils; first and second placed entries were taken by college students. This is the third year running that Ecclesfield School students have come away with an award in the competition; a great leaving present for our two year 11 students who have contributed to the group's outstanding photographic work in recent years.

As part of a Community Arts Festival this summer, Ecclesfield School is holding a photography competition that is open to the general public and students of other schools in the local area. We recently returned from a whistlestop photowalk of the sights and delights of London. After shooting around 800 images on the day, our students sat down with Adobe Photoshop and went to work on post-production. The results are stunning and can be seen in our London photo gallery.

Year 8 student Joe has been voted regional winner for the North in the 11-14 category with his photograph of fellow student Jake in the Sightsavers i:click competition. Joe's photograph will be displayed at the South Bank OXO gallery in London from December 10th 2009 until January 10th 2010.
